Graduate Programs

The Department of Social and Cultural Analysis offers Master of Arts degrees in Africana Studies and in Social and Cultural Analysis, and a Ph.D. in American Studies. Both M.A. programs prepare students for further study at the doctoral level and for careers in a wide variety of cultural and public institutions. The Ph.D. in American Studies provides rigorous interdisciplinary training that enables students to conduct scholarly research and analysis at the highest levels, both within and outside of academia. The Department is currently developing a Ph.D. in Social and Cultural Analysis that will complement the focus of its existing American Studies Ph.D. program.
