Examining the ways in which race is made audible, she considers musical and performative practices from gongs to comic impersonations in film, television, stand-up comedy, and literature. Her second project examines the fabrications of neoliberal democracy and "American sartorial exceptionalism" in the fashion industry after 9/11.
